The paperwork, in plain English
Session terms.
These are the terms for booking time at Certified Entertainment Studios. They exist so both sides know the deal before any money moves. Questions about any of it? Text (860) 750-9886 and ask.
The short version
You book real time in a real room. A 50% deposit holds your date, the balance is due on the day, and the address comes with your confirmation. Bring what you love playing, treat the place like it's someone's home, because it is, and we will take care of the rest.
Booking and deposits
A session is confirmed when the 50% deposit is paid. Until then a date is not held for you.
The remaining balance is due on the day of your session, before files are delivered.
Sessions that run past the booked block continue at the hourly rate for that room, billed in whole hours, and only if the room is free to keep going.
Rescheduling and cancellations
Life happens. Move your date with at least 48 hours notice and your deposit travels with you to the new date, no penalty.
Cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or do not show, and the deposit is forfeit. It paid for time that was held for you and turned away from someone else.
If we ever have to cancel on you, for equipment failure, weather, or anything else on our side, you choose: a full refund of everything paid, or first pick of new dates.
The property
The studio sits on private property and runs one session at a time. Sessions are by appointment only, and the exact address is shared with your booking confirmation.
Bring the people working on the project. Friends and family are welcome within reason, but this is a working room on private land, not a venue, so clear larger groups with us first.
Your gear
Your instruments and equipment stay your responsibility while on the property. We are careful people in a careful room, but we do not insure your gear.
House gear is included in your rate. If something of ours breaks through normal use, that is on us. If something breaks through misuse, we may bill for repair or replacement.
Your material
You confirm you own or have permission to record everything you bring to a session, including songs, samples, and guest performances. If a claim ever comes from material you brought in, that claim is yours to answer, not the studio's.
You own your recordings. We claim nothing on your masters, your songs, or your publishing.
We may ask before ever naming you or your project publicly. If you say no, that is the end of it.
Files and delivery
Session files are delivered after your date, once the balance is paid in full.
Keep your own copies once files are delivered. We keep working copies for a reasonable period as a courtesy, but we are not a backup service and are not liable for lost data after delivery.
Conduct and safety
Follow the direction of the engineer in the room, especially around electrical equipment and stage lighting.
No illegal activity on the property, and nobody under the influence to the point of being unsafe. We can end a session on the spot for either, without refund of the deposit.
Loud rooms are loud. Hearing protection is available, and using it is your call and your responsibility.
Liability
To the fullest extent Connecticut law allows, you use the studio and the property at your own risk, and the studio is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for amounts beyond what you paid for the session in question.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited under Connecticut law.
Payments
Payments are processed by Square through our booking system. Paying a deposit or checking the agreement box at booking means you have read and agreed to these terms.
